Simpson University Hires New VP of Enrollment

REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University announces the hire of Dr. Herb Tolbert as the university’s new Vice President for Enrollment Management.

Dr. Tolbert brings over 18 years’ experience in higher education providing leadership and organizational development in the strategic enrollment management and marketing fields.

Most recently, Dr. Tolbert served as the VP of Marketing and Enrollment Management at Montreat College in North Carolina where he established a strategic enrollment management model for the college. Dr. Tolbert returns to Simpson University after having previously served as the Director of the Student Support Center and Director of Enrollment Development and the Interim Vice President of Enrollment Services and Marketing. During his nine years at Simpson University, the college grew from 450 students to 1,320.

“After working at a number of universities over the last nine years, it is great to be back at Simpson and to be living in Northern California,” said Dr. Tolbert. “I believe I bring a very solid strategic enrollment management philosophy to the university. My staff is working very hard as we build a systematic, relational, and strategic approach to growing the enrollment at Simpson University.”

Dr. Tolbert holds a B.A. in Physical Sciences & Secondary Teaching from Seattle Pacific University, an M.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies, Physical Sciences, Education, and Computer Science in Education from Western Oregon University; and an Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

In addition to his work at Montreat College, Dr. Tolbert has also served in enrollment management at Cox College in Missouri, Angelo State University in Texas, Edinboro University in Pennsylvania, and LeTourneau University in Texas.
