REDDING, Calif. – Simpson University’s women’s basketball team, under the direction of head coach Derrick Pringle, will be hosting a basketball camp on Simpson’s campus on June 18 to teach youth in the Redding and surrounding area basketball fundamentals.

The camp consists of two sessions. The morning session will run from 8 a.m. to noon and is open to boys and girls in third through fifth grades. Players will learn basketball fundamentals including offensive and defensive skills. The afternoon session runs from 1-5 p.m. and is open to boys and girls in sixth through eighth grades. Players will learn shooting and rebounding skills and defensive and offensive footwork. They will also compete in full-court games. All participants will receive a skills evaluation and a T-shirt.

The cost for the each camp session is $30. A deposit of $15 is required to reserve a player’s spot in the camp. Full payment for the camp is due on June 18. The last day to register is June 15.

“We are very excited for this summer’s basketball camp,” said Pringle. “With our current players and basketball staff, those who participate will get great fundamental instructions and most importantly have fun. This is a great opportunity for us to give back to the community.”
