For Immediate Release
07.18.2011
REDDING, Calif. – Simpson University women's head basketball coach Derrick Pringle announced two new student-athletes will join the Red Hawks during the 2011-2012 academic year. The athletes who signed letters of intent are Brook Blaisdell of Central Point, Ore., and Hannah Saylor of Canyon Country, Calif.
Blaisdell joins the Simpson University Red Hawks after graduating from Crater High School in Central Point, where she played three years under coach JT Thomas. The 5-foot-10 forward was awarded Southern Oregon Hybrid All-Conference Honorable Mention.
Pringle said he is excited about the addition of Blaisdell to the team. "She's a young woman with high character and is an extremely good student," he said. "Brook is also a very talented basketball player and will have a great chance to contribute immediately."
Blaisdell hopes to major in psychology at Simpson. She believes the university will be a good fit for her.
"Simpson is a great Christian university and will allow me to grow spiritually as well as academically and athletically," she said. "Being able to be a part of the women's basketball team is an honor, and I am very excited about playing for Coach Pringle."
Saylor, a 5-foot-7 guard, played varsity basketball for two years and is looking forward to playing for the Lady Red Hawks under Pringle. She also welcomes the Christ-centered environment of Simpson.
"I chose Simpson because I knew it would be a great place for me to grow spiritually," she said.
Pringle said he looks forward to what Saylor will bring to the court. "Hannah has a chance to make an immediate impact to our basketball program as well as in our conference," he said. "We're excited that she's joining us."
