Simpson University Secures Services of Roger Janis for Baseball Field Project
For Immediate Release
REDDING, Calif. – As planning for the Redding Community Baseball Field continues, Simpson University announced that it has secured the services of Roger Janis to coordinate the completion of the field.
Janis, a former businessman and long-time Redding resident, has been instrumental in the progress of the field to date as he has served as the chair of the baseball field fundraising committee since fall 2009.
“Roger Janis is enthusiastic about baseball, the youth of our community and Simpson University,” said Gordon Flinn, vice president of advancement. “We are grateful for his willingness to help with the baseball field.”
In his new role, Janis will work with Simpson personnel to implement the project plan for the completion of the field and energize fundraising efforts. He will also act as the Redding Community Baseball Field spokesperson.
“I’m excited and motivated to be a part of this project,” said Janis. “The baseball field will have a significant positive impact on the youth in our area. It’s also a great opportunity for Simpson University and the Redding community.”
The Redding Community Baseball Field has faced some obstacles which have delayed ground-breaking efforts. Environmental factors, such as rainy weather, have impacted plans to begin construction. Additionally, the university re-engineered the location of the field to optimize the land use.
Janis says substantial financial support has already been given to the 8-acre project, but additional funds will be needed moving forward.
“Phase 1 is expected to begin this spring,” said Janis. “In phase 2, we’ll bring in the amenities, and we hope the baseball field will reach completion in 2013.”
