Simpson University Women’s Basketball Signs Two More for 2015-2016
For Immediate Release
REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University women’s basketball program announces the signing of two student-athletes for the 2015-2016 season: Aliya Davis (Everett, Wash.) and Ravien Lawson (Redding). Davis and Lawson join Olivia Edwards, Kelsie Jurin, and Shayla Smothers as members of the 2015-2016 recruiting class.
Davis is a junior guard who is transferring from Sierra College in Rocklin, Calif., where she was team co-captain and led her team in three-point shooting (31 percent). She also averaged 8.4 points, 1.9 rebounds, and two assists per game. Davis attended Woodcreek High School and was named the Most Outstanding Offensive Player, first team all-league, and an all-star Optimist player.
“We are thrilled to have Aliya sign and commit to Simpson,” said head women’s basketball coach Derrick Pringle Jr. “She is terrific scorer, great shooter, and can play all three guard positions. She is also a tough competitor, a great teammate, and a great student and leader off the court.”
Lawson is a junior forward who is transferring from Shasta College in Redding. She played four years of high school basketball at Enterprise High School, where she averaged 17 points per game.
“Ravien is a tremendous athlete, hard worker, and great leader,” said Pringle. “She can play multiple positions and is a great defensive player. We are extremely excited and blessed to have a student-athlete of her caliber at Simpson and in our program.”
