Men’s Soccer Signs Six for 2015 Season

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University men’s soccer program is pleased to announce the signing of six student-athletes for the 2015 season: Kyle Carpenter (Redding), Brandon Jacobsen (Redding), Bradley Manivong (Redding), Jacob Muniz (San Jose), Solomon Dutton (Vermilion, Ohio), and Connor Brown (Springfield, Ore.).
Carpenter is a freshman midfielder who attended Redding Christian High School. He was team captain his junior and senior years and was an American Conference all-league selection in 2014. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the California Scholastic Federation. He plans to major in history while at Simpson.
“Kyle is a strong player who will be a great fit for our program and the culture of Simpson University,” said head men’s soccer coach Jared Rust. “He will bring a great level of play to our team with his composure and field vision.”
Jacobsen is freshman midfielder and striker who attended University Preparatory High School. He was selected Athlete of the Month multiple times.
“Brandon is a great addition to our team,” Rust said. “He is a player with great speed and finishing ability who will demand the best out of his teammates.”
Manivong is a sophomore winger and forward who is transferring from Lake Tahoe Community College. He attended University Preparatory High School where he was an honor student. His team won the section championship in 2013 and was the section championship runner-up in 2014. He plans to major in biology while at Simpson.
“Bradley will bring a high level of play with a great level of maturity,” Rust said. “We are looking forward to seeing the impact he will make to our program.”
Muniz is defensive and attacking center-midfielder who is transferring from Chaminade University, an NCCA Division II school located in Honolulu, Hawaii. He attended Lincoln High School in San Jose where he was a four-year honor student and received first team all-Blossom Valley Athletic League honors.
“Jacob is a strong midfielder with a great touch on the ball who will really help us in retaining possession and playing dangerous passes in behind our opponents,” Rust said.
Dutton is a freshman outside-midfielder who attended Open Door Christian High School in Ohio. He received all-Lorian County and all-Greater Cleveland first team, all-state second team, and all-Ohio Player of the Week honors. He was also a merit award winner.
“Solomon is a very skilled midfielder and forward who has a great eye for scoring goals and doing his very best every second he is on the field,” Rust said. “I look forward to working with Solomon and seeing his true capabilities.”
Brown is freshman outside and center back who attended Springfield High School. He received first team all-league honors his junior year and first team all-league and all-state honors his senior year. His club team, the Eugene Timbers Club Organization, won the club state championship in 2014. He was an Advanced Placement student and plans to major in psychology while at Simpson.
“Connor is a fantastic defender, and we are very excited to implement his knowledge of the game as well as his technical ability to play out of the back with both feet comfortably,” Rust said.
Simpson University, established in 1921, is a Christian university offering undergraduate, graduate, and teaching credential programs.
