REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University women’s volleyball program is pleased to announce the signing of two student-athletes for the 2015 season: Madison Rinehart and Cassandra Simons, who are both from Fresno and transferring from Fresno City College.
Rinehart is a junior opposite hitter who received second team all-Central Valley Conference honors while at Fresno City. She attended Clovis East High School where she earned first team and honorable mention all-conference honors. She plans to major in nursing while at Simpson.
"Madison is quick, and her hitting arm is fast," said head women’s volleyball coach Thomas Kirst. "She has great court awareness and will be a great asset to our program."
Simons is a junior opposite hitter who attended Bullard High School. She received all-County-Metro Athletic Conference and team captain honors. She was also valedictorian and an Advanced Placement scholar. She plans to major in nursing while at Simpson.
"Cassie is that all-around player each coach looks for," Kirst said. "She is quick to react to each play, her communication on the court is second to none, and she is a true leader."
