Simpson University Softball National Tournament Bracket Announced

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University softball team will host Dickinson State (N.D.), Oregon Tech, and Eastern Oregon in the Simpson Bracket of the 2016 NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round on May 16-18.
These four teams, announced May 10 by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), will compete in a double-elimination tournament in up to seven games. The tournament winner will advance to the 36th annual NAIA Softball World Series in Sioux City, Iowa, on May 27-June 2.
The Red Hawks earned the No. 1 seed and will open tournament play at noon Monday against No. 4 Eastern Oregon, which won the Cascade Conference Tournament to earn an automatic qualification to the national tournament.
No. 2 Dickinson State, the North Star Athletic Association champion, will face off against No. 3 Oregon Tech, the at-large selection from the Cascade Conference, at 3 p.m.
The community is invited to attend any of the games and watch some of the most competitive collegiate softball in the country, said Tom Galbraith, director of athletics.
Those who would like to attend the tournament can purchase single-day tickets or all-tournament passes. Prices range from $5 to $25, with children 10 and under receiving free admission. Tickets and passes can be purchased online or at the door.

- 12 p.m. - No. 1 Simpson vs No. 4 Eastern Oregon
- 3 p.m. - No. 2 Dickinson State vs. No. 3 Oregon Tech
Tuesday, May 17 - 10:30 a.m., 1 and 3:30 p.m.
Wednesday, May 18 - 12 p.m.; another game at 3 if needed
