Simpson University Hosts Second Annual Red Hawk Ride

For Immediate Release

2017 Simpson University Red Hawk Ride

REDDING, Calif. - More than 80 cyclists participated in Simpson University’s second annual Red Hawk Ride, a multi-distance cycling event designed to raise funds for student scholarships.

The event on April 8 consisted of four different routes designed for bicyclists of all ages and skill levels, including a 6.2-mile (10K) fun ride and run and 25-, 50-, and 100-mile courses. All routes started and ended on Simpson’s campus and primarily covered eastern Shasta County, with views of Mt. Shasta and Lassen Peak.

Redding Subaru was the marquee sponsor of this year’s event. More than 40 other businesses helped with sponsorships as well.

The Red Hawk Ride also included music, breakfast and lunch, vendor booths, and family-friendly activities. Red Hawk Ride apparel and gear was for sale, and registrants received a swag bag filled with goodies, breakfast, and a Red Hawk Ride polar water bottle.

Entry fees ranged from $10 to $95, with proceeds going to the Simpson University Student Scholarship Fund. Sixty percent of Simpson University’s undergraduates are the first in their families to attend college and/or economically underprivileged. The university gives numerous scholarships each year to help students afford a college education.

The 2018 Red Hawk Ride is tentatively scheduled for mid-April. Learn more at
