Simpson University to Host ‘Hospice Care’ Workshop
For Immediate Release
REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University will host a free workshop and Q&A titled “Hospice Care” from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, November 9.
The workshop, sponsored by Simpson University for Seniors, will be in the J.D. Williams conference room, third floor of the Owen Student Services Center on campus, 2211 College View Drive, in Redding.
Katherine Silver, clinical nursing supervisor for Sojourn Hospice in Redding, will talk about the benefits of early access to hospice, including recognizing when hospice might be appropriate, Medicare eligibility, how hospice care can support the patient and family, how to make a referral, and more.
For more than a decade, Silver has specialized as a nurse in helping seniors “age in place” with safety and dignity.
“There will come a time in all our lives when medical interventions will be able to extend our life, but not our living,” she said. “When that time comes, palliative care through hospice assures that we are comfortable and maximize the quality of the weeks and months we have left.”
