Surging Red Hawks honored by Cal Pac
REDDING, Calif. – Seven members of Simpson University’s women’s softball team and head coach Wayne Stower were honored by the California Pacific Conference over the weekend. Seniors Corrine Alexander, Nicki Feuerbach, and Brooke Quaife, freshman Jillian Goulart, and junior Hayley Rodriguez received first team all-conference honors. Junior Morgan Davis and sophomore Chelsea Dunn received second team all-conference honors. Stower was named Coach of the Year for the second time in three years.
Rodriguez was also named Pitcher of the Year for the third straight season. She ended the season with a 3.49 ERA and a conference-best 14 wins.
Simpson’s first-place finish in the Cal Pac earned them the No. 3 spot at the NAIA regional tournament in Irvine, Calif., on May 3-5. The Red Hawks face No. 6 Hope International University in the first round of the tournament on Thursday, May 3, at 11:45 a.m.
The Red Hawks aren’t new to national tournament play. Last season, they won the NAIA West Regional Tournament, finished second in the National Christian College Athletic Association championship game, and tied for first in pool play in the NAIA National Championship tournament.
