Simpson University adds men's wrestling; Anderson's Williams will coach team

REDDING, Calif. – Simpson University hired Anderson High School’s Don Williams to be the head coach for its new wrestling program. The university and Williams both think he will be a good fit for the program.

Williams is bringing 28 years of coaching experience to the program. He also wrestled collegiately at Chico State University from 1978-82.

Simpson’s wrestling program will be a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). It is currently one of only two California schools in the NAIA to offer wrestling.

Williams said he is excited to meet with local wrestlers and talk to them about the opportunity of joining Simpson’s program.
