The SU Brand
The SU brand is a graphic identifier of what Simpson University represents in the mind’s eye of our constituents. It is designed to visually represent our institutional identity as cohesively and comprehensively as possible. Linking to our mission statement, the SU brand communicates that we are a comprehensive Christ-centered learning community developing students in mind, faith and character to influence the world.
The SU Brand Identity
The new Simpson University logomark and the graphic usage guidelines presented here evolved from the Integrated Marketing Group’s discussions and recommendations. They represent nearly 18 months of research, discussions, design development, and polls of hundreds of university faculty, staff, students, leadership, alumni and prospective students.
The final design was built on three attributes of Simpson University: our high-caliber academics, our deep-rooted passion for service, and the physical beauty of our location. The logomark reflects these traits and embodies a strong traditional academic motif in a bold, contemporary application, and be easily identifiable as Simpson University.
The logomark was approved on May 27, 2009, and was the graphic composition favored by an overwhelming majority of each constituency surveyed. Effective Sept. 1, 2009, this will be the primary logomark used to represent Simpson University in all traditional, online and communications media. Use of the academic seal will be reserved for official formal documents such as diplomas, catalogs and transcripts.
The success of this new institutional branding program depends on the consistent and careful use of the new logomark in every application. The Branding Guidelines are intended to help facilitate this.
