On behalf of Simpson University, we would like to thank all of our current donors for their generosity and support.

E.C. "Red" Owen

E.C. “Red” Owen lived a life driven by service for others, his love for his family and a passion for the Lord. He was blessed with an eye to see what others could not. His character and reputation as an honest, reliable and hard – working man were the fingerprints he left on the lives of the people he touched. Red consistently lent a hand in support of his neighbor, friend, stranger and fellow man, whether on the farms of Oklahoma where he was raised, in the mines of Colorado, as a chaplain’s assistant during World War II or as a recognized and accomplished contractor in Portland, Oregon.

Among his most notable achievements were his commitments to family and education. Through it all, Red loved to learn and to help others learn. He thrived on using his gifts and skills to teach others. Red did not have the opportunity for a University education. Yet, through his leadership and foresight, the Owen family has made it possible for their children and grandchildren to attend the University. In addition, the family has created a generous scholarship fund at Simpson University to support students who have a passion to learn and a willingness to serve our Lord.

Red also enjoyed watching the church grow, both spiritually and physically. The Owen family has been instrumental in the construction of churches throughout the Pacific Northwest that are still being used to spread the Gospel today. Red invested in the lives of people with the intention that the fruit would last for eternity. With the gifting he received from the Lord, E.C. “Red” Owen built a tradition – one that Simpson University is honored to continue.
