Simpson Receives Accreditation Renewal

For Immediate Release
08.13.2008

REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University is pleased to announce that it has been awarded re-accreditation for the maximum renewal period from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

WASC, Simpson's main accrediting body, has reaffirmed the university's accreditation for 10 years.

The renewal followed a visit last fall by a WASC team panel, which reviewed the university's Educational Effectiveness Review Plan. The evaluation stated that the team was greatly encouraged by the university's strategic financial planning, increased enrollment and academic planning. They noted a recent increase in new programs and majors, which include bachelor's degrees in nursing, biology and outdoor leadership; a Master of Divinity degree in the A.W. Tozer Theological Seminary; and, starting this fall, an ROTC Military Leadership program.

Simpson University Provost, Dr. Stanley Clark, said, "This accreditation renewal affirms our commitment to excellence. We are pleased that external reviewers have validated our strengths, and highlighted areas for further development."

The Western Association of Schools and Colleges is recognized as one of six regional associations that accredit public and private schools, colleges, and universities in the United States. For more information on WASC, visit http://www.acswasc.org/.
