Three Simpson University student-athletes to compete in national tournaments

REDDING, Calif. – Three Simpson University cross-country student-athletes will represent the Red Hawks at the 2009 National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletes (NAIA) tournaments.

Prior to the tournaments, Simpson University athletes competed in the UC Stanislaus Invite, the Santa Clara University Invite, the Holy Names Invite, and the Cal Pac Championship. Each race besides the Cal Pac Championship featured athletes from NCAA II and NCAA III institutions.

Hope will participate in the NAIA tournament, while Koskey and Garringer will participate in both the NAIA and NCCAA tournaments.

Assistant Athletic Director Derrick Pringle, Jr. said, “It is a great delight to have three members of the cross-country team represent Simpson University in both the NCCAA and NAIA national tournaments. This is a testament to the growth of our athletic department and our efforts to compete nationally.”

The NCCAA tournament will be held on Nov. 12-14 in Dayton, OH, and the NAIA tournament will be held on Nov. 19-21 in Portland, Ore.
