Simpson University to Host Interactive Success Presentation for Freshman Students
For Immediate Release
09.25.2009
Redding, CA – On, Monday, Sept. 28, Simpson University will host the nationally recognized series, “Monster College Advantage,” to over 150 freshmen in the Heritage Student Life Center.
Facilitated by “Monster College Advantage,” this free success presentation provides first-year college students with important information on how to own their college experience and be successful both in and out of the classroom. This interactive presentation emphasizes the importance of goal-setting, time management, and strong academic performance, as well as gives students information and strategies to help them maximize their future career opportunities.
“According to a recent survey, 52 percent of employers project they will be hiring fewer graduates in 2009 than they did in 2008,” said JR Cifani, vice president of Making It Count. “In this difficult economy, it’s more important than ever that students understand what they need to do to succeed in an ultra-competitive job market. We are providing students with the information they need to make the most of their college experience to get a great career when they graduate.”
The “Monster College Advantage” will be part of Simpson University’s First Year Experience (FYE) class. FYE is a 7-week course required for all new students with less than 24 credits on their transcripts. The class utilizes lectures from speakers, teachings from professors, and discussions from student FYE leaders.
Aaron Beadner, Director of Student Programs at Simpson University, said, “In a tough environment where it’s difficult to find a job, we want to give our students a head start. This presentation will help prepare our students for the next four years.”
