REDDING, Calif. - On May 22 and 23, two Simpson University student-athletes won the annual 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament held at the Redding Convention Center parking lot.

Tiffany Johnson and Dominique Simmons, who played for the Simpson women’s basketball team, joined Shanna Moss of Shasta College to win the women’s Top Flight division.

Over 850 players of all skill levels from the north state participated in the annual 3-on-3 tournament hosted by the Shasta Union High School District, KRCR News Channel 7, and the city of Redding.

Johnson, Simmons, and Moss’ team, Top Notch, went 3-1 in the pool play on Saturday, May 22, and then won both games on Sunday, May 23, to win the tournament.

Derrick Pringle, women’s head basketball coach at Simpson University, said, “It’s a great privilege to have two Simpson women’s basketball players be a part of the team that won the 3-on-3 tournament. Their success brought great exposure to our basketball program, and it also shows how talented both Tiffany and Dominique are.”

The event raises money for Enterprise, Shasta and Foothill high school athletics. This year the tournament brought in an estimated $21,000.
