REDDING, Calif. – On April 10, Simpson University, in partnership with the Redding Community Baseball Field Committee, will hold “Let’s Play Ball!,” a fundraising event for the Redding Community Baseball Field.
The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Big League Dreams indoor pavilion.
The community baseball field is a joint venture between Simpson University, Add Some Color, and the Redding community to construct a baseball stadium to serve local youth athletic programs and benefit Simpson University athletics.
Roger Janis, past chair of the Redding Chamber of Commerce, said the baseball stadium will have a positive impact on the community.
“It will provide a significant venue for youth sports; it can be used as a multi-purpose facility for outdoor events; visitors to our community will add revenue to our local businesses; a local baseball team will provide great sports entertainment for families; and the cost of the facility is not coming from tax dollars,” said Janis. “I can think of no reason not to support the baseball field at Simpson University.”
Greg Cadaret, former major league baseball player and president of the Colt .45’s, said, “The baseball stadium will be a tremendous asset to Add Some Color and the Redding Colt .45's summer collegiate baseball team. The opportunity to raise attendance will allow us to give back to youth sports programs in the area.”
Individual tickets can be purchased for $25.
