Simpson University Invites Public to Join its Community Chorus - The Trinity Repertory Singers

For Immediate Release

08.24.2011

REDDING, Calif. – Simpson University extended an invitation today to all Shasta County residents over the age of 16 who are interested in singing choral literature, to join its community chorus. The Trinity Repertory Singers will begin its fifth season under the direction of Dr. Hoffmann Urquiza Pereira, director of choral activities at Simpson University, on Thursday, Sept. 8.

"The Trinity Repertory Singers provides a great opportunity for people in the community to share and develop their vocal and musical talents," said Dr. Urquiza Pereira. "Choirs are also unique environments where people can develop strong relationships through common artistic goals. These principles combined make Trinity a very special organization. I am really pleased and impressed with the caliber of performances this fine chorus has brought to our area in the past few years."

Trinity specializes in the performance of large-scale choral works including compositions by J.S. Bach, Mozart, Haydn, Handel, Elgar, Vaughan Williams and others. Those with previous choral or vocal experience are encouraged to participate.

No audition is necessary. Those who are interested will have a short interview to determine prior vocal experience, basic ability to match pitch, vocal range and part placement.

Weekly rehearsals will be held on Thursday evenings from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in room HC-1 of the Simpson University Heritage Center, located at 2211 College View Drive.
