Simpson University Offers Nonprofit Workshop

REDDING, Calif. - A workshop on the topic of nonprofit board governance will be held Aug. 29 at Simpson University, 2211 College View Drive.

The 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. seminar will be led by John Pearson, president of San Clemente-based management consulting firm John Pearson Associates. Pearson, author of Mastering the Management Buckets: 20 Critical Competencies for Leading Your Business or Nonprofit, has more than 30 years of nonprofit CEO experience.

The workshop, designed especially for nonprofit CEOs and key board members, focuses on effective ways to govern a nonprofit board. Topics include cultivation, recruitment, orientation, and engagement. Participants will learn the three questions one should ask before serving on a nonprofit board; strategies for turning board prospects into committed members; what a board member’s key role is; and much more.

Event pricing—which includes lunch and refreshments—is $140 for an organization’s director, or a discounted rate of $100 if the both the director and board chair (or other key board member) attend. Additional board members may attend for $50.

The workshop will be in the J.D. Williams Suite on the third floor of the Owen Student Services Center on campus.
