Former Simpson University Athlete to Play Pro Basketball in Venezuela

Travis DerochowskiREDDING, Calif. – Former Red Hawk men’s basketball player Travis Derochowski has signed a professional basketball contract to play with Atleticos University Central de Venezuela in the Latin Basketball League.

Derochowski, from McMinnville, Calif., was selected First-Team All-Cal Pac (California-Pacific Conference) last season (2011-12) and led Simpson in rebounding.

“Simpson men’s basketball is extremely proud to have ‘Big Trav’ as its alumni and ambassador playing professionally overseas,” men’s basketball coach Matt Thacker said. “We couldn’t ask for a better person to help us, as a Christian and Missionary Alliance school, to carry out the Great Commission in a basketball ministry. We wish him nothing but the best.”
