REDDING, Calif. – The Simpson University men’s and women’s basketball teams will kick off their new season with a Red Hawk Madness showcase Oct. 6 that includes a dunk contest, scrimmage and more.

The public is invited to the free event inside the Heritage Student Life (gymnasium) on campus, 2211 College View Drive. Activities start at 10 p.m. and are expected to last about 90 minutes.

“This should be a fun event for both the fans and the players,” said women’s basketball head coach Derrick Pringle Jr. “We are really looking forward to the start of an exciting season.”

Red Hawk Madness will feature a 3-point shootout between the men’s and women’s teams, a dunk contest by the men’s team, intra-squad scrimmage, a half-court-shot give-away, and a dance competition.

The first 50 fans will receive a Red Hawks basketball poster.
