REDDING, Calif. - Tickets are on sale now for the Simpson University Music Department’s annual Christmas Festival, set for 3 p.m. Dec. 8 in the Heritage Student Life Center on campus.
Tickets are $10 general admission, and $8 for seniors and students. They can be purchased online at simpsonu.edu/musicevents or at the campus bookstore during regular business hours.
The festival’s theme this year is “Light Has Come.” The concert will feature many of Simpson University’s premier ensembles, including the SU Chorale, Trinity Repertory Singers, Handbell Choir, Chamber Winds, and a special Shasta Symphony brass ensemble.
“Light Has Come” will feature performances of Daniel Pinkham’s “Christmas Cantata,” John Rutter’s “Candlelight Carol” and Paul Christiansen’s arrangement of “My Song in the Night.” Other festive choral works and familiar Christmas carols will also be performed.
The SU Christmas Festival has a long history. What began as a way to join students, faculty and their families in an evening of singing and contemplation during the busy holiday season has grown into a community holiday tradition. Now, hundreds join the celebration each year.
The Simpson University Christmas Festival offers our community something unique—a holiday celebration that is both spiritual and musically significant,” said Dr. Dan Pinkston, chair of the Music Department. “While this time of year can become busy with shopping, traveling, parties and college finals, this event is an opportunity to remind us all of the joy of the season.”
