Board of Trustees names Dr. Robin Dummer as Interim President

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University Board of Trustees named Dr. Robin Dummer as interim president following the retirement announcement of Dr. Larry J. McKinney. Dr. Dummer has served at Simpson University since 1994. His most recent position was interim provost and chief academic officer. He is also the dean of the school of traditional undergraduate studies. Dr. Dummer received a B.A. in history from Simpson College during the San Francisco campus years, a Masters of Divinity from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, M.A. in history from California State University at Chico, and Ed.D. in educational leadership from George Fox University.

In making the announcement, Dr. Betty Dean, retired president from Butte College and chairperson of the Simpson University Board of Trustees stated “Dr. Dummer’s education, experience and commitment uniquely prepare him to lead Simpson University. With the support of an experienced executive team and talented faculty and staff, the future of the university is very bright. The trustees recognize Dr. Dummer’s long history with the university, the scope of his responsibilities and the importance of providing leadership that is seamless to students in all academic programs. Please join us in welcoming, congratulating and praying for Dr. Dummer as he steps into his role as interim president.”

Dr. Dummer provided the following perspective. "As interim president, I have hope for the future of Simpson University as we lean into the opportunities provided us in the days and months ahead. I strongly believe that the University's best years in fulfilling its mission as "the gateway to world service" lie ahead."

Dr. Dummer will begin his official duties on May 1.
