REDDING, Calif. - The Trinity Repertory Singers of Simpson University invites community members to join its chorus as it begins its 2013-2014 season.
In addition to Simpson University staff, faculty and students, Trinity Repertory Singers is open to community members interested in singing choral literature.
Trinity is conducted by the university’s newly appointed director of choral activities, Dr. Cyril Myers Jr.
“Dr. Myers brings extensive conducting experience and carries a contagious enthusiasm that is sure to make this season a memorable one,” said Dr. Dan Pinkston, chair of the Music Department.
Trinity Repertory Singers offers an opportunity for people to share and develop their vocal and musical talents in a welcoming environment. The group specializes in the performance of large-scale choral works, including compositions by Brahms, Mozart, Haydn, Handel, Elgar, and others.
No audition is necessary. Those who are interested will have a short interview to determine prior vocal experience, basic ability to match pitch, vocal range, and part placement.
Rehearsals, which begin Sept. 5, are held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday in room HC-1 of the Heritage Student Life Center at Simpson University, 2211 College View Drive in Redding.
