REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University is one of six California Pacific Conference schools receiving national recognition in the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup competition.

The directors’ cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution’s finish in up to 12 sports—six men’s and six women’s.

The Red Hawks, “riding an amazing run by the softball team,” totaled 150.75 points, earning an 89th ranking nationally, Cal Pac News reported. “Impressive” showings from women’s cross-country and men’s and women’s basketball contributed to the high score.

The other Cal Pac schools to earn recognition include Soka University of America, ranked 69th nationally; Embry-Riddle at 86th; Menlo College, ranked 117th overall; William Jessup University at 168th; and Cal Maritime at 173rd place.
