For Immediate Release
10.20.2015
REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University was one of 21 partners recognized this month during Healthy Shasta’s 10th anniversary Partnership Leadership Team event.
Healthy Shasta is a partnership of North State agencies that seeks to promote healthy and active living through initiatives such as walking and biking and healthy food systems.
Simpson University has partnered with Healthy Shasta for eight years, participating in events such as the annual Walk This Way fundraiser, holding an employee pedometer challenge, and more.
With help from a Healthy Shasta grant, the Simpson class of 2015 purchased a water-bottle filling station for its senior class gift last spring. The university now has six stations in three buildings on campus.
“Simpson University has been a great Healthy Shasta partner,” said Healthy Shasta coordinator Shellisa Moore. “They have shown their commitment to Healthy Shasta and making the healthy choice the easy choice for their employees and students through the many changes they have made for their staff and the students, from offering less sugary beverages in the cafeteria and replacing with flavored water, to installing water-bottle filling stations for students and employees, to encouraging employees to take walking breaks.”
