Simpson University to Inaugurate 14th President

REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University will inaugurate Dr. Robin Dummer as its 14th president in a special ceremony at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, inside the Heritage Student Life Center on campus.
The event will be live-streamed at simpsonu.edu.
Delegates from other colleges around the country, along with former Simpson presidents Drs. Francis Grubbs and James Grant, and the Board of Trustees, will join university faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends for the inauguration, which will be followed by an outdoor reception.
Dr. Dummer is a ’76 graduate of Simpson College (Calif.). He received a master of divinity from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, a master of arts in history from California State University at Chico, and a doctor of education in educational leadership from George Fox University.
During his 21 years at Simpson University, Dr. Dummer has served in a variety of roles, including professor of history, chair of the faculty senate, chair of the Humanities and Business Division, dean of the School of Traditional Undergraduate Studies, accreditation liaison officer, interim provost, and interim president.
Dr. Dummer received the Professor of the Year award (traditional undergraduate) in 2002 and Teacher of the Year award from the School of Adult Studies (ASPIRE) in 2000. He was the recipient of the Clarence McIntosh-William Hutchinson Research Scholarship in California and Western History at CSU Chico.
Dr. Dummer and his wife, Debbie, met while students at Simpson. They have been married for 41 years and have two daughters and two grandchildren.
