Simpson University School of Nursing Earns National Accreditation

For Immediate Release

REDDING, Calif.—Simpson University’s School of Nursing is pleased to announce it has been granted national accreditation through the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

The CCNE Board of Commissioners granted accreditation to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at Simpson University during the board’s fall 2015 meeting. The accreditation is retroactive to Jan. 28, 2015.

Officially recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a national accreditation agency, the CCNE is an autonomous agency that ensures the quality and integrity of baccalaureate, graduate, and residency programs in nursing.

To earn the accreditation, the School of Nursing effectively demonstrated that its curriculum meets high standards and that support systems are in place to help nursing students achieve their goals.

The School of Nursing, which has graduated 82 BSN students since it launched the program in 2011, is also accredited by the Western Senior College and University Commission and approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing.

Adding national accreditation will benefit students wishing to pursue healthcare careers in the military and increase options for those wishing to pursue master’s degrees.

“We were very excited to receive the Commission’s letter,” said Dr. Gayle Copeland, provost of Simpson University. “With the accreditation of the baccalaureate programs, we are better positioned to provide what the profession demands. We are proud of the work that our School of Nursing faculty and staff do, and this accreditation affirms their excellent work."
