Community Invited to Simpson University Opportunity Fair

For Immediate Release

REDDING, Calif. - Community members interested in volunteering with Shasta County organizations are invited to Simpson University’s annual Opportunity Fair on Sept. 16.

The fair, held in the James M. Grant Student Life Center on campus from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m., will feature representatives from more than 30 businesses, organizations and churches in the Redding area who are seeking volunteers for a variety of positions.

Simpson University students volunteer in churches and organizations each semester as part of a service requirement housed through a Service Seminar class. They serve 30 hours throughout the semester while being mentored by someone on site.

“This is our first year to open the fair to community members interested in volunteering,” said Hannah Dewater, coordinator of community services. “We’re excited for the opportunity to give people a snapshot of those in our city and county who do good works every day and are inviting others to join them in their service. The city is better when we work together.”
