Simpson University ‘Rent-A-Team’ Students Available for Work Projects

For Immediate Release

02.05.2016

REDDING, Calif. - Have yard work, housecleaning or other projects that need attention? For the fifth consecutive year, Simpson University students are offering “rent-a-team” services to collect donations toward spring and summer service trips around the globe.

Each year, dozens of Simpson students travel the world to serve at orphanages, youth and sports camps, community centers, and other locations. Students raise their own money for the trips, which last from one week to a month.

This year 120 students will participate in WorldSERVE trips. Participants do a variety of fundraisers each year to help offset costs, which range from $500 to $1,200 per student for domestic trips, and $2,400 to $3,800 for overseas travel.

Those interested in renting a team can email missions@simpsonu.edu. List the type of project you need done, the number of students you prefer, a few possible dates, the length of time needed, your location, and any suggested attire or tools to bring.

A student team leader will contact those who email and make arrangements. After the students have completed their service, a donation can be made that will be split evenly among the participants. One hundred percent of donations go toward student costs as they travel and serve.

This year, WorldSERVE students will spend spring break with inner-city youth in Chicago and an anti-trafficking agency in Olympia, Wash., and learn about urban poverty in San Francisco. Summer team locations include El Salvador, Eastern Europe, Chile, Mexico City, Haiti, Laos, Thailand, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, France, Russia, and India.
