Award-Winning Columnist to Talk with Simpson, Shasta College Students

REDDING, Calif. - Award-winning newspaper columnist and author Sharon Randall will speak to Simpson University and Shasta College students on Friday, Sept. 23.
Randall will address students during professor Molly Rupert’s Survey of Mass Media class at Simpson University, which meets from 9:10 to 10:10 a.m. in LaBaume-Rudat Hall, room 101. Members of the local educational community are welcome to join.
The event is co-hosted by Simpson University and the Shasta College Foundation.
“It is an unprecedented honor to have Sharon Randall as a guest speaker for our students,” Rupert said. “She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience about writing and life to the next generation of writers and journalists.”
Randall, whose popular syndicated column runs weekly in the Redding Record Searchlight, is visiting Redding on behalf of The Women’s Fund of the Shasta Regional Community Foundation.
A regular speaker at conferences and fundraisers, Randall, who lives in Las Vegas, began her journalism and writing career at The Monterey County Herald in 1982. Her column has been distributed to more than 400 newspapers, with an estimated 6 million readers, according to her website.
In addition to her classroom visit, Randall will be featured at “An Evening with Sharon Randall,” scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, at the David Marr Theatre on Eureka Way. Tickets can be purchased for $20 at this link.
