Simpson University Welcomes New Professors

REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University welcomed 12 new full-time faculty to campus in 2017 across a range of disciplines.
The professors were formally introduced to students and staff during an opening academic convocation ceremony at the start of September.
We are excited to welcome our new faculty who bring such a diverse set of experiences and skills to the Simpson community,” said Dr. Gayle Copeland, university provost. “We are pleased to embrace them as together we advance the mission of Simpson University.”
The new faculty are as follows:
Seth Abrahamson, associate professor of mathematics. Professor Abrahamson earned degrees from the University of Miami and University of New Mexico.
Dr. Michelle Anberg-Espinosa, assistant professor of education. Dr. Anberg-Espinosa earned degrees from University of California at Davis, Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, and the University of San Francisco.
Michael Austin, assistant professor of physics. Professor Austin holds degrees from Rice University and Vanderbilt University.
Andrea Caldwell, assistant professor of nursing. Professor Caldwell earned degrees from University of California at Los Angeles and Sonoma State University.
Dr. Jennifer Costillo, assistant professor of psychology. Dr. Costillo earned degrees from Biola University and Azusa Pacific University.
Megan Grover, assistant professor of anatomy and physiology. Professor Grover earned degrees from Waynesburg University and the University of Sheffield (UK).
Joseph Jones, assistant professor of business and accounting. Professor Jones earned degrees from California State University, Sacramento, and CSU Chico.
Irene Lopez, assistant professor of education. Professor Lopez earned degrees from California State University, Bakersfield, and Azusa Pacific University.
Dr. Timothy Orr, assistant professor of history. Dr. Orr earned degrees from John Brown University, University of Tulsa, and Baylor University.
Dr. David Rice, assistant professor of biology. Dr. Rice earned degrees from Delta State University and University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.
Dr. Berkeley Shorthill, associate professor of chemistry. Dr. Shorthill earned degrees from George Fox University and Penn State University.
Paul Wood, assistant professor of business. Professor Wood earned degrees from Portland State University and Tarleton State University.
Simpson University, established in 1921, is a Christian university offering undergraduate, graduate, and teaching credential programs. The university celebrated its 25th year in Redding and the completion of a Science and Nursing Center in 2014.
