Veterans Success Center Donation

REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University’s Veterans Success Center is now fully equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, thanks to recent generous donations from individuals and organizations.

On Sept. 24, university President Robin Dummer and Veterans Success Center Director Justin Spears welcomed California State Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Cmdr. Wayne Wright, Vice Cmdr. Michael Kuznik, and their team to campus. The VFW team donated office furniture and a full flag set, among other items.

Last week, equipment purchased at Apex Technology Management Inc. of Redding—which also made a cash donation—completed the center with computers, a printer, monitors and a flatscreen TV for the conference room.

“We are very grateful to all those who have given to help outfit the Veterans Success Center,” said Spears, a Simpson University alumnus and Navy veteran. “Their donations will directly impact student veterans working to obtain a college degree and plan their future.”

The Veterans Success Center opened on campus in November 2016 and is designed as a central place for veterans and their dependents to access educational and career-planning resources. It houses a VA work-study work site, the Student Veteran Organization, Simpson’s chapter of the SALUTE Veterans National Honor Society, academic resources, conference and study services, as well as a community space for student veterans to network with each other.

The center is open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Simpson University welcomed 15 new student veterans this fall and has 40 student veterans enrolled in academic programs. Learn more about the university’s veterans services at simpsonu.edu/veterans.
