For credential candidates not planning to teach in California, California has reciprocity with many other states, meaning that a California teaching credential is honored in those states. To see if your preferred state accepts a California teaching credential, visit that state’s Department of Education website for information.
Current Single Subject Credential holders may add the multi-subject credential by:
- Passing the CSET for multiple-subject and the Reading Instruction Competency Assessment (RICA)
- Completing a 3 credit multiple-subject curriculum course and a 3 credit elementary language arts course.
