Filing the FAFSA
Step 1 – Apply for FAFSA
Complete your FAFSA online at studentaid.gov by March 2 to be eligible for the most state, federal, and institutional aid available. March 2 is our priority deadline, but students can file a FAFSA anytime during the academic year.
- Simpson University’s federal school code is 001291
- Use your legal name on all documents
- You and your parents (if a dependent student) will need a Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID to electronically sign documents
Completing the FAFSA automatically considers you for Pell Grants, Federal Work Study, Direct Loans, Cal Grant, and Simpson institutional scholarships
Step 2 – Receive Aid Offer
Estimated Financial Aid Offer Letters are sent out as early as October. Your offer letter will include Simpson’s Cost of Attendance as well as your estimated awards for the coming year. New students will receive their first offer letter via email. All returning students will receive their offer letter via email beginning in March.
If you feel your offer letter is missing awards, contact the Financial Aid Team. We’re happy to help!
Your offer letter may change if your FAFSA was incomplete, incorrect or new information becomes available, or if your housing, attendance, or enrollment status changes.
Be sure to review Simpson’s Financial Aid Terms and Conditions.
Step 3 – Check Your Portal
Review the financial aid page in your student portal and complete any additional steps or paperwork requested by the Office of Financial Aid. Check your Simpson University email regularly, as most communication will be sent there.
Students selected for verification must submit all required documents by the deadline listed in their Missing Information notice. Verification can take 2–4 weeks to process.
Simpson offers payment plans for those who need them.
