Simpson University Alumni: Making A Difference
Yemi Mobolade – A. W. Tozer Seminary graduate, Mayor of Colorado Springs
“I want to disrupt and confuse this whole experience we call politics. I want to call God’s people back to doing it well.”
Mobolade, a Nigerian immigrant, came to know Christ at a very young age through his parents, who were both pastors. At 17 years old, he came to the US to pursue his higher education and seek greater opportunity.
After receiving a degree in business, he went on to earn master’s degrees in management and leadership from Indiana Wesleyan University and in intellectual leadership from A. W. Tozer Theological Seminary.
In 2010, Mobolade moved to Colorado Springs to start a church through the Christian & Missionary Alliance, and since then has served the community in a number of ways before finally defeating Wayne Williams, an experienced politician who served as Colorado’s secretary of state from 2015 to 2019, in the Colorado Springs Mayoral race.
Mobalade’s unwavering faith and powerful leadership skills continue to make Simpson University proud.
Stephanie McDade ’11 -Theology Editor at Christianity Today
I truly believe Simpson University was pivotal in setting me up for where I am today! I feel honored to have learned from so many world-class professors with the highest standards of excellence while enjoying a level of personal attention that many large schools don’t have. I felt like the education I received at Simpson (a double major in Communication & Bible/Theology) set me up to think critically and engage with alternative viewpoints while also instilling in me the confidence to hold to confessional orthodox convictions. I am eternally grateful for my time there!
