Simpson Scholars – Honors Program

Students who apply and are accepted into the Honors Program will be welcomed on campus as Simpson Scholars. Simpson Scholars will have unique opportunities during their first two-years at Simpson University. They will bond and get to know their cohort in a special section of our first-semester introductory course known as Gateway, which will be taught by the head of the Honors Program, Dr. Timothy Orr. They will continue during the next three semesters to take specially designated honors courses as part of The Ascent, our General Education Program. Simpson Scholars will also be invited to special lunches with VIP guests from the university and from the Redding community. Other opportunities and benefits include planned day trips, priority registration for new classes, guidance and mentorship from Simpson faculty, individual planning sessions before finals, unique service opportunities, and special recognition at graduation.
Simpson Scholars will also have exclusive access to monthly lunches featuring invited VIP guests from the university and from the Redding community. To apply, students need to send in their 400-500 word essay in response to the attached prompt by December 6th, 2024. Essays should be sent as an attached document to Dr. Timothy Orr at torr@simpsonu.edu.
