Associate Provost Publishes First Book

Simpson University proudly congratulates Dr. Melanie Howard, Associate Provost & Dean of Arts & Sciences, on the publication of her first book, Twelve Biblical Characters: Trials and Triumphs, through Paulist Press. This devotional offers insightful reflections and thought-provoking questions, guiding readers through the lives and lessons of key biblical figures.
Dr. Howard’s work serves as a valuable resource for both individual study and group discussions, deepening engagement with Scripture. Her achievement is an inspiration to students and the broader community.
President Dr. Hall – Named One of ‘The 10 Inspiring Education Leaders 2024’

Dr. Norman D. Hall, 15th President of Simpson University, was named one of The 10 Inspiring Education Leaders 2024 by The Education Magazine. This accomplishment shows the ‘vision and grit’ of our SU President, who works for the future while staying committed to the original mission of Simpson – to develop each student in mind, faith and character for a lifetime of meaningful work and service in a constantly changing world.

Simpson University Announces Women’s Flag Football

After research, careful consideration and critical conversations with students, faculty, staff, and community members, Simpson University made the decision to launch a women’s flag football program. The program will began in the spring of 2026 with scholarships being offered for the fall 2025 semester.
As the first Northern California university to add women’s flag football, and the second in the Western United States, Simpson expects this to bring many new faces to its campus as it is one of the fastest growing sports in the nation.

ADMISSIONS
Spring Preview Weekend Invites Future Red Hawks to Campus

Each spring, Simpson University opens its doors to high school students and their families for a special campus tour, offering a full Red Hawk experience. This year’s event began with a welcome from SU President Dr. Norman D. Hall, followed by class visits, chapel, faculty meetings, and an exciting taste of campus life—including the popular Silent Dance, one of SU’s Sweet 16 events.
Students explored academic and community life firsthand, with some even staying overnight in the dorms. The day culminated in one student committing to SU, while many others gained valuable insight into their decision for an educational future.
ALUMNI
In Loving Memory…

Dr. Robin K. Dummer
Dr. Robin K. Dummer, former President of Simpson University (2015–2018), went home to be with the Lord on December 16, 2024. A proud 1976 alumnus, he dedicated decades to Simpson as a Bible instructor, Associate Provost, and eventually President, leading with humility and faithfulness. After retiring in 2018, he moved to Idaho to be near family. A memorial service will be held on January 31 at 2 PM in Nampa, Idaho.

Nancy Schaefer
Glenn and Nancy Schaefer have been part of the Simpson community for 51 years. They were married for 63 years. Nancy was known for many things: baking, crafting, sewing, gardening, hospitality, and love – and then came her grandchildren who were everything to her. Nancy was living in Redding, California when she passed away on March 26, 2025 after 15 years with Parkinson’s Disease.
