Single Subject Credential
Simpson University School of Education offers a traditional student-teaching or intern pathway to licensure. A single subject credential authorizes the holder to teach specific subject matter in grades 7-12.

Current Single subject credential holders may add an additional single subject credential by:
- Passing the appropriate CSET subject-matter tests
- Completing a 3 credit course in curriculum and instruction in that subject area
For credential candidates not planning to teach in California, California has reciprocity with many other states, meaning that a California teaching credential is honored in those states. To see if your preferred state accepts a California teaching credential, visit that state’s Department of Education website for information.
