Direct Acceptance for the School of Nursing

What is Direct Acceptance?
Direct Acceptance to the Betty M. Dean School of Nursing is a distinguished program for first-time freshmen looking to pursue their Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. After completing the first three semesters of pre-nursing coursework, students who qualified for Direct Acceptance will be directly admitted into the School of Nursing at Simpson University. Students must maintain a cumulative college GPA at Simpson of 3.0 or higher and achieve an adjusted score of 70 or better on the ATI-TEAS exam.
How to Qualify for Direct Acceptance
- Must be a first-time freshman
- 3.0 cumulative high school GPA (unweighted)
- 3 math classes (earning a C or better)
- 2 lab sciences
- Apply and be accepted to Simpson University before August 1st.
- Submit two letters of recommendation (personal and academic) by August 15th at 5 p.m. to admissions@simpsonu.edu or to student’s admissions counselor
- Must be 18 years or older before registering for courses
- Students must complete all GE and pre-requisites here at Simpson
Until admitted, students will be considered part of the pre-nursing cohort. Please note, the School of Nursing will extend up to 12 spots for direct acceptance.
How to Maintain Direct Acceptance
- 3.0 cumulative college GPA
- Students who are direct acceptance have to maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA on all pre-requisite’s classes AND a C or higher in all classes
- 3.0 average pre-requisite GPA
