Direct Acceptance for Betty M. Dean School of Nursing

Simpson University is excited to open applications for our 2025 Direct Acceptance Program from now until March 31!
Direct Acceptance to the Betty M. Dean School of Nursing is a distinguished program for first-time freshmen looking to pursue their Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. After completing the first three semesters of pre-nursing coursework, students who qualified for Direct Acceptance will be directly admitted into the School of Nursing at Simpson University. Students must maintain a cumulative college GPA at Simpson of 3.2 or higher and achieve an adjusted score of 70 or better on the ATI-TEAS exam.
How to Qualify for Direct Acceptance
- Must be a first-time freshman
- 3.2 unweighted high school GPA
- Must have a B or better in Algebra 2 or higher
- Must be in-progress or complete with:
- Two sciences with lab (“B-” or higher)
- Algebra 2 (“B” or higher)
- Apply and be accepted to Simpson University before July 15th.
- Submit essay by Monday, March 31 at 5 p.m. to admissions@simpsonu.edu or to student’s admissions counselor
- Must be 18 years or older before registering for courses
- Until admitted, students will be considered part of the pre-nursing cohort
Essay Details
Essay will include answers to the following three questions. Essay should include the student’s name at the top and is not limited to a particular formatting.
Essay Prompt
- Describe an important influence or life experience that has guided your decision to choose nursing as a profession.
- Discuss why Simpson University is the university in which you want to earn your Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
- At this time, what are your professional aspirations?
Please note, the School of Nursing will extend up to 12 spots for direct acceptance.
