Direct Acceptance for Betty M. Dean School of Nursing
We are excited to announce an exclusive application extension for our Direct Acceptance Program to the Betty M. Dean School of Nursing! Because of high levels of interest, we are re-opening application submissions until April 26!
Direct Acceptance to the Betty M. Dean School of Nursing is a distinguished program for first-time freshmen looking to pursue their Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. After completing the first three semesters of pre-nursing coursework, students who qualified for Direct Acceptance will be directly admitted into the School of Nursing at Simpson University. Students must maintain a cumulative college GPA at Simpson of 3.2 or higher and achieve an adjusted score of 70 or better on the ATI-TEAS exam.
How to Qualify for Direct Acceptance
- Must be a first-time freshman
- 3.2 unweighted high school GPA
- Must have a B or better in Algebra 2 or higher
- Must be in-progress or complete with:
- Two sciences with lab (“B-” or higher)
- Algebra 2 (“B” or higher)
- Apply and be accepted to Simpson University before April 26th.
- Submit essay by Friday, April 26th at 5 p.m. to admissions@simpsonu.edu or to student’s admissions counselor
- Must be 18 years or older before registering for courses
- Until admitted, students will be considered part of the pre-nursing cohort
Essay Details
Essay will include answers to the following three questions. Essay should include the student’s name at the top and is not limited to a particular formatting.
Essay Prompt
- Describe an important influence or life experience that has guided your decision to choose nursing as a profession.
- Discuss why Simpson University is the university in which you want to earn your Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
- At this time, what are your professional aspirations?
Please note, the School of Nursing will extend up to 12 spots for direct acceptance.
