Academic Advising
Welcome to the Advising Center
At Simpson University, every student is supported by two advisors:
- Faculty Advisor – Helps you with academic planning, choosing courses, and exploring career goals related to your major.
- Student Success Advisor – Supports you in understanding university policies, general education requirements, campus resources, and strategies for academic success and a smooth transition to college.
Academic advising is designed to help you take ownership of your college experience, make informed decisions, and stay on track toward your personal, academic, and career goals.
What Academic Advising Includes
1. Academic Information & Guidance
Get help with:
- Choosing or changing a major
- Understanding degree and graduation requirements
- Course options and academic policies
- Important dates and deadlines
2. Program & Graduation Planning
Work with your advisor to:
- Plan your classes semester by semester
- Build a graduation plan
- Select the right courses
- Adjust your schedule when needed
3. Registration Support
Course registration priority is based on the number of credits you have completed (your class standing).
- Veterans receive preferred registration access.
4. Campus Connections & Referrals
Your advisors help connect you with other helpful resources, including:
- Academic Success Center
- TRIO Programs
- Veterans Success Center
- Office of Internship and Career Development
- Counseling Center
- Student Development
- Student Financial Services
